New Release - The Dallas Divide
I woke to a cold morning, a far cry from the relative warmth of the night before. The readout on my truck seemed to be stuck on 16 degrees, roughly 40 degrees colder than the prior day. The sky was dark, but there was enough light to see large clouds in the sky. This was the sunrise I had been waiting for all week. The drive to this spot was a hair raising adventure. 4 inches of fresh snow had fallen over night and the dirt roads were now mud. I was slipping and sliding all over the road as I blazed a trail on the fresh snow. I came upon a sign that made me stop in my tracks - "No Winter Maintenace Beyond This Point". I blazed on through deep icy mud puddles, a slick narrow road barely large enough for the 4Runner, and a heard of cattle. When I arrived at my photo location I was alone. I could hear the wind whistling by and I knew it was going to be a cold morning on the mountain. I stepped out of my truck and marveled at the scene before me. I knew I was going to be the only person in the world to witness this, it was a good day.
